What Makes A House A Home?

Home is where the heart is.

Unfortunately, in my life so far, I've never lived in a home where I've felt truly happy or where my heart belongs. But I do have a lot of values and principles that are important in a home because a home should be the ultimate place of peace, harmony and sanctuary.

Hopefully, I'll be able to achieve a 'home sweet home' in the future. I'm currently searching for a 1 bedroom flat in London and the South East and I hope to find somewhere suitable very soon.

In the meantime, here are the things that (in my opinion) make a house a home.

Peace, love and harmony
In my opinion, a home is not a home if it's a battleground. A home should be a place where you are able to feel at peace. A home should be full of life, love and laughter, and a place where you feel immense joy. It should be a place where you feel like you belong, and a place where you can just be yourself.

Comfortable furniture
Comfy and cosy furniture is essential to a home. When you've had a long day at work or study, it's nice to be able to come home and feel snug in your bed and on your sofa. Furnish Your Home is a great place to find the perfect furniture pieces.

"Cleanliness is close to godliness" as they say. I've lived with filthy flatmates in the past and I really can't understand people who choose to live in squalor. For myself, a clean home means a tidy mind - plus it's much more hygienic. Also, a bright home is very important. A home with bright (but neutral colours) can add a touch of life and personality.

Personal treasures
Add some objects that represent you: photographs, wall art, books and decorative pieces. Each home needs a personal touch.

What do you think makes a house a home?
