A Concise Guide to Halloween!

Halloween is just around the corner, but if you haven’t prepared yet, then don’t fret. Here are some ideas and inspiration to pick from.

Outfit ideas
Outfits, outfits, outfits! Outfits are the big thing for Halloween. It’s so hard to choose a character to dress up because there are so many to pick from. Here are a few suggestions:

Harley Quinn
Played by Australian actress Margot Robbie in the popular film Suicide Squad, the supervillain’s look is one of the most popular and the most copied by fans, Halloween fanatics and YouTubers alike.

Cher Horowitz
If you are a huge fan of Clueless and you’ve got your sass game on, then dress like Cher. You could wear the yellow plaid jacket and the matching pleated skirt, or alternatively you could wear a little red dress with a white feather boa.

Wednesday Addams
If you have a black dress with a white collar in your wardrobe and a long black wig you can plait into two braids, then you can dress up as the daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams.

Jessica Rabbit
If you feel like getting a long red sparkly frock on and getting dolled up to the nines, then dress up like Jessica Rabbit. Complete the look by styling your hair with wavy/curly patterns, and then add a bold red lipstick to create the pout.

However, if you are not feeling like dressing up as a particular character but you want to look ready for Halloween, then improvise. For example, for the understated but glamorous ‘catwoman’ look, get some cat ears and black eyeliner and wear as accessories with a leather outfit or lace dress. Alternatively, you can wear Halloween-printed clothing pieces, which are currently available at many fashion retailers.

Accessories are great additions to any Halloween outfits. Add statement pieces, such as skull earrings and spiderweb-shaped necklaces.

Pumpkins are for carving out at this time of year but if you want to get cooking – or you just want to feel as though you are on the set of the Great British Bake Off - then try out some pumpkin-inspired recipes, such as pumpkin pie, pumpkin and butternut squash soup, pumpkin bread loaf, pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin cake.

Going out or staying in?
Some people choose to go out on Halloween night, usually to an event or party, whereas some people prefer to stay in. Either option can be fun, even if you are having a cosy night in – you can snuggle up on the sofa in Halloween-inspired pyjamas and watch spooky movies!
