The Self-Love Tag!

I feel inspired to write this post after reading self-love posts by Sally's (Little Budget) and Lucy's (Just Lucy's Life) blog posts on self-love and self-esteem.
I've previously written about self-love before and the importance of having good self-esteem. Having good self-esteem is essential to having self-worth, confidence and living a fantastic.

Unfortunately, I've struggled with low self-esteem my entire life. Throughout my childhood I was constantly mistreated, demonised, dehumanised, hurt and put-down so I ended up having a very low opinion of myself. It's very hard for me to feel happy within myself where other people are constantly trying to hurt me, tear me down and destroy my life and every fibre of my being. It's difficult for me to relate to others as a result, and at times I feel as though I dislike and distrust humanity. I've reached a point in my life where, unless I'm surrounding myself with positive people who love me and uplift me, then I'm happy spending time on my own.

Having low self-esteem is something I still struggle with now, but I'm working towards building this up. I'll write about how I'm doing this in another post, but if you are struggling with low self-esteem, Mind has some useful tips on how to increase it. I'd love to get to a point where I love myself and have full confidence and faith in myself.

What is something that's been getting you down at the moment?
A lot of things: my current living situation, and recent events (Grenfell Tower fire, Manchester bombing, London Bridge terror attack and the Westminster terror attack.)

What is something that makes you happy?
Sunshine! Honestly, I love the weather at the moment: bright, sunny, warm and clear blue skies.

Name 3 guilty pleasures.
Chocolate, reality TV and french fries.

What is something about yourself you want to improve?
I wish I could be a lot more resilient and bounce back from sad situations, instead of looking back at the past in anger and resenting the world.

When was the last time you belly-laughed?
I've been watching the Fresh Prince a lot and the show always makes me belly-laugh.

What is your biggest insecurity/fear?
Giving my love, respect, appreciation and kindness to someone, only to have my efforts thrown back in my face and receiving rejection, hurt, let-down and disappointment instead.

Name a sing that always cheers you up when you're down.

      Well done for going freelance.

      I like your answer about sunshine making you happy. I totally agree and think that Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is real which is one of the reasons why I resigned from my job (not happy) and decided to live on Nevis island (Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis), for a break.

      Yes, I just love the sunshine. And I think it's great that you quit a job that was making you unhappy and decided to move away to a sunny climate instead. It's nice to have that break. Life is too short to be anything but unhappy.
