"Should I Get An Instagram Theme?"

It seems as though so many top bloggers, vloggers, Instagrammers and digital media influencers have implemented a certain layout on their Instagram accounts, known as Instagram themes. But do you need one?
I remember, a long time ago I was searching for advice regarding blogging and social media. I was looking for ways to get noticed and to increase my following and traffic on my blog and social media channels. One of the things I was advised to do was to add an Instagram theme. I understand why. In some ways, I like Instagram themes because they look aesthetically-pleasing and attractive to the eye, and they are more likely to be suitable for brand collaborations.

But...I chose not to. I have my reasons why. I don't think that means that I am a 'bad blogger' who is not bothered about collaborating with brands. I think it's a choice. If you have one then that is great. If you don't have one then that's great too. It's not essential.

When it comes to blogging and all that comes with it (i.e. social media) I always say "Do what you want and do what makes you feel comfortable." Don't do something because you feel you have to, or for the sake of it. There is so much pressure to be the perfect digital media influencer, so sometimes it's best to take a step back and do your own thing. Forget the rules and tips.

Why I don't have an Instagram theme:
- Implementing a theme requires a lot of time and serious effort. I put a lot of effort into my Instagram but I really don't have the time.
- An Instagram theme would mean that I wouldn't be able to post whatever I wanted whenever I felt like it.
- I like my Instagram account to reflect my life in the most natural way possible, and a theme wouldn't do that for me.
- I prefer Twitter for blog post promotion, so I utilise that more.
- My Instagramn is personal to me. I used it to share my life with my friends and followers. I recently locked my account because I wanted to keep it private for this reason, so what would be the point of having a theme anyway?
