New Look, Fresh Starts

Thursday, December 01, 2016

I'm sure you have noticed, but I have changed my blog layout.
This was a bit of a long process for me: I spent ages trying to find the right theme for my blog (check out ThemeXpose if you use Blogger and you are looking for free themes.)

Then I came across the right one and installed it. Then I spent an entire afternoon tweaking it, researching CSS and coding, rearranging elements, re-doing the header and sorting out the layout.

At times I felt frustrated - I am not good at coding - and I was so close to giving up but I'm glad I didn't! I'm one of those people...once I start something I like to see it through and I was so determined to change my blog because I had been intending on doing so for months.

Now that I've changed my blog I feel so much happier with my blog. I was always satisfied with my blog, but I knew it could be better and I am always open to change. Even though I had modified my previous template, I wanted a complete refurbishment and here is the final result.

For myself, the new look of my blog kind of represents a fresh start. I'll still write about fashion, beauty, lifestyle and travel and I have so many topics I want to blog about. I have so many posts in my draft folder waiting to be written up and I have loads of blog post ideas saved on my laptop so I have plenty to fall back on if I need some inspiration. Keeping my blog consistent is very important to me and to my readers so keep your eyes peeled and keep on reading.

Most importantly, I want to take things further. Blogging is my passion but I want it to go further than that. I'd love to be able to get paid to write for a living so I'm hoping that in 2017, my blog will lead onto fantastic opportunities. I've been able to do some great things so far as a result of my blog, but I really want more. I want my blog to be a lot more established than it is now. I want more people to read my blog and to read what I have got to say. I have a lot of potential and so has my blog, so I expect big things. I'm not saying I want to become a full-time blogger but I want to start earning a bit of money from my blog at least. I'd love to be able to do that. Getting paid for my passion is something that I have wanted for years but I can't seem to catch a break. I've spent years writing for free and I've had issues in my job - I wasn't enjoying it and I felt as though I wasn't progressing - so I want 2017 to be the year where I can finally start reaping the rewards.

The next step is for me to buy my domain. I've been doing my research for months, but I can't seem to figure out which domain host is best. I know I want/need to buy my domain and I will do eventually, but for now I just need to keep on doing my research and asking around in the blogging community. If you have any recommendations please mention them in the comments section below this post.

Anyway, I'm proud of myself right now. Like I said before I'm no expert on coding and web design but to be able to change my blog and make amendments to the theme without any help or support makes me feel great. I feel as though my confidence within blogging is blossoming every day and I can't wait for exciting times of the future.
