Blogmas Day 10: 5 Ways To Treat Yourself This Winter

Treating oneself is an important aspect of self-care.

Life can be hectic, busy and stressful so it's very important to take some time out for yourself.

I am a big believer in 'me-time' but until I went away to university I had never ever had me time at all and that was very detrimental to myself and my mental health. Also, whenever I would relax I would feel extremely guilty and I assumed that I was being lazy, which wasn't the case at all.


Now, I always set out to make 'me-time' a priority and I always incorporate it into my schedule. I like to treat myself - I've had a turbulent life after all - and the cold season is not the exception to this. In fact, it is the on of the best times to treat yourself.


If you are looking to treat yourself this season, then here are some of my suggestions.


1. Make yourself a delicious hot chocolate
Seriously indulge yourself in a luxurious mug  of hot chocolate...with marshmallows...and whipped cream. Add a couple a shots of Baileys for added flavour!





2. Attend a afternoon tea spa day
As a person born and raised in Britain, drinking tea is a huge part of my diet - I usually drink herbal tea - but I admit, I have never been out to afternoon tea - ever. Go to an afternoon tea spa here you can escape the strains and stresses of life and relax, have some treatments and enjoy the quintessentially English activity of afternoon tea.






3. Pamper yourself

Paint your nails. Do up your hair. Apply red lipstick. Spray your favourite fragrance. Buy scented candles (or reed diffusers) and light them up (don't do this with reed diffusers) in order to add sweet scents in your home. Have a bubble bath full of Lush bath bombs. Whatever you do, pamper yourself and relax. Your body needs it and you deserve it.



4. Update your skincare routine
The cold chill can be harsh on the skin, so updating your skincare routine is a must. Change up your skincare products and make sure you implement your routine in the morning and before you go to bed.





5. Have a lie-in
I really can't understand people who are against lie-ins. Like, why? What's wrong with having a lie-in? Having a lie-in on the weekend is a great way to chill out and relax. It doesn't mean you are lazy at all. It's not a crime! During my sixth form years I didn't have a lie in at all and that was so bad - I need to rest! So yes, have a lie in and don't feel guilty about it! It's so nice to sleep in.
