Why I Love #TheGirlGang

Monday, August 22, 2016

For those of you who are not aware, The Girl Gang is a collective group launched by Jemma (aka Dorkface). It consists of a community of bloggers and the aim of the group is to spread positive vibes within the blogging community.

I joined The Girl Gang many moons ago when it had just started out, and I must say, I believe that The Girl Gang is one of the best things to happen to the blogging community. As a small blogger it's so hard to be included in blogging-related stuff, and it's so nice to have a ray of sunshine within the blogging world because sometimes there is a bit of negativity within it.

I love The Girl Gang because:

It spreads positivity
Blogging is an enjoyable hobby and while the majority of bloggers are lovely people, there is a toxic minority who make the rest of us look bad, so The Girl Gang is like a ray of positivity within the community. Also, blogging is a form of escapism for many of us (myself included) so it's nice to have something to retreat to after dealing with the stresses of the world.

It unites all bloggers
It doesn't matter how big or small you are as a blogger, or how long you've been blogging for, or how well established you are - all bloggers are welcome. It's not about creating a space for the privileged bloggers, it's about including all bloggers from all walks of life, and that leads me onto my next point...

It creates a community
The Girl Gang has established a community of like-minded individuals, and it's inclusive. It's great to be a part of something, and that's a big deal for someone like me who finds it hard to integrate and make friends.

It offers a lot of support
If I have any issues (blogging or non-blogging related) I can expect to receive support, guidance and advice from fellow bloggers, which leads me onto my next point...

It offers a space for freedom of speech and expression
I follow The Girl Gang on Twitter and I am part of the private Facebook group, and I love the fact that it gives my the space and freedom to seek advice and discuss matter related (or not related) to blogging, and that is so important to me, but blogging offers that anyway!

Follow The Girl Gang here.
