Blogger Confessions: Fashion

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

I have decided to write up a series of posts on 'confessions' in relation to my blog.

These posts are nothing shocking or spectacular, but they are a series of posts to get some things off my chest and dispel the myths of being a blogger, and blogging in general.

So here goes...

I don't have a background in fashion.
I am not a fashion expert and I don't claim to be one.  I have never studied fashion.  I don't really know about fashion.  However I do read fashion blogs and magazines on a regular basis, and these sources are where I get my 'knowledge' of fashion trends from.

I write styling posts - i.e. Get The Look, Steal Her Style, Style Icon Sunday, OOTD, OOTW, etc - but...
I don't have a background in fashion styling and I am not the person to ask for styling advice.

I'm not the most fashionable.
I am not the ultimate fashionista.  Most days when I am in university I will wear very casual clothing, though I do try to style my causal outfits because I'd hate to look very boring or scruffy.  I still take pride in my appearance so I try to wear nice items and I try to look presentable wherever I am.

Unless I am popping to the local shop to buy a pint of milk of course!

I write about fashion trends, but I wear what I want whenever I want.
I don't feel the need to wear or purchase certain items because they are in trend.  I feel as though trends never truly die out - they can be revived at any time.  Just because something is in trend doesn't mean you have to have it.  Just because something is out of trend doesn't mean you can't have it.

I have never been to LFW, PFW, MFW and NYFW...
...but I really want to go!

However I have been to a fashion show before - I went to a fashion show three years ago at Westfield London.

I don't always go shopping...
...and I don't do hauls or spending sprees because I am not a big spender.

I avoid using the 'fashion blogger' label.
I don't call myself a fashion blogger, because I don't feel like a typical fashion and style blogger, plus I tend to blog about other topics so I call myself a writer/blogger/contributor instead.

Nevertheless, I love writing fashion articles and posts!
I love writing about fashion trends, wishlists and the latest looks and styles.
